I was so very sad to hear of the cancellation of sonisphere 2012. (photo taken at 2010’s Soni).
I was taken a back to hear the rumours and part of me still hoped that it was some kind of really bad joke. While i didnt go to knebworth 09 due to funds, the last two years it has become the festival of choice. Not because of the lineup, which generally has alot of bands that i love anyway, but because its just such a lovely atmosphere. There are no dicks high as kites threatening to burn tents down, In fact its a festival you felt safe walking around (expesh that both years it was mainly just me and my female cousin.) The toilets were always clean-ish and had loo roll and hand sanitiser (if you’ve ever been to a festival you know how shocking that is!) and the people who went were just amazing.
I know many people (from reading the sonisphere uk facebook page) are blaming the acts, but well, i rather liked the line up, it was different sure -but i was getting pissed off at paying near on £200 to see the same bands every year) as well as having much more of a variety of metal and rock then any other festival out there. Yes i know how everyone bums download, but well… to me sonisphere was and always will be the festival of choice. I just hope 2013 brings back sonisphere to the UK and the real fans and lovers of the festival stand by it!
